“For months I followed strangers on the street. For the pleasure of following them, not because they particularly interested me. I photographed them without their knowledge, took note of their movements, then finally lost sight of them and forgot them.”

—from Suite Vénitienne by Sophie Calle

My artworks have centred on the beauty of everyday life and daily happenings. From delicate drawings and paintings of carpet patterns (The Carpet), to photographs of strangers on the street (The Observing Game), my works aimed to capture particular moments of our daily lives, as well as to raise individual’s awareness to every object or person which we sometimes overlook.

With the use of a variety of materials, I would like to explore better representations of a culture. Through the use of language and visual displays, my practice (The Observing Game) address obsession and the presentation of self drawing on Sociology and Anthropology. Fascinated at observing human behaviour and its relation to the surroundings, works are created with a voyeuristic style to portray unnoticeable features and chance events to encourage reflexivity.

Whilst discovering more through looking around ourselves, we may be more conscious of the importance and aesthetics of details in the everyday, where personal experiences may inspire interpretations and visual presentations connecting to collective memories.
